Today started well (well it is Friday after all), we had a very stress morning, until just as we were leaving for school, my daughters teacher rang to speak to me which made us late, but traffic was being kind.
One of the positive points of having a child in year 6, is that you no longer have to go along to the school fairs, I could just send her off with our donations, and money for her to spend and I will just pick her up when she is ready.
As a treat I am being domesticated and have made a loaf of bread, I do love the smell of bread cooking.
Not much to report at the moment, as no dramas today which is lovely for me, but boring for you.
I will update later as I am sure there will be much more to say
We all have that time where our child wants a smoothie, and you dont have much in. This is what I use in times like this.
Frozen or fresh fruit ie bananas, strawberries etc
a little honey to sweeten if desired
Put all in a blender and blend and pour into a glass.
Instant quick and easy smoothie
This is such a quick and simple recipe and my daughter loves making this, and in this weather why not.
1 can of condensed milk
1 tub double cream
vanilla essence (or whatever flavour you want)
Pour the double cream into a bowl and whisk until thickened
Add the condensed milk and stir into the cream
Add a few drops of vanilla essence
At this stage you can add other ingredients, for example, cookie dough, chocolate chips, fruit, whatever you fancy
Pour into a freezable container (I keep old ice cream tubs), place a lid on and pop in the freezer until frozen.
You do not have to stir every so often, you simply forget about it until you want to eat it, and it comes out smooth and creamy.
You could swap the condensed milk for the caramel condensed milk which is lovely on its own, but we like to add fudge pieces.
It is slightly cooler today than it was yesterday, although still fairly humid.
Oh my daughter was such a joy this morning, like me she is not a morning person, but normally she is talkative, oh no not today, when asked the simple questions of what would you like for breakfast? Are you ok this morning? etc, I was met with grunts.
I do admit yesterday was a long and tiring day for her, as she had her induction day at her new school and then we were back up there in the evening for a couple of hours, on the hottest day ever, so I do understand. But I am tired and hot and bothered as well!!!!!!!
We had strops and throwing things around and just general grumpiness. I was grateful when it was time to drop her at school. I bet her teacher has a lovely day with her, and lets hope she comes home in a slightly better mood.
She came home in a much better mood and was smiling. But surely it is not just my child who can’t remember what happened 5 minutes ago or just shrugs their shoulders and then gets annoyed when you ask them a question again, as I can not hear a shrug
Oh well tomorrow is another day.
This is my very first blogging post so please be kind to me. Let me start by introducing myself.
I am Sam, a 40 something mum to a pre teen who is 11 going on 16, and a stepmum to a 20 year old and 17 year.
We are just going through the stage of transferring to secondary school with my daughter, all very exciting and nerve wracking in one go.
My blog is going to be about the ups and downs, the tears and the joy of my journey at coping with my baby growing up and moving from her safe little primary school to her new adventure and beyond in her new school.
I hope you will find this entertaining and interesting and it may help some of you cope with the same trauma (yes it is a trauma as I want to keep her my baby), although I am loving watching her grow.
